No other pasta has the universality of Pelmeni. There are many ways to cook and serve them as main courses, soups, appetizers and snacks.

Please note: Once you start eating your Pelmeni dish, you always want more, more and more... That's why you should double your estimate of how many Pelmeni you are planning to cook.

Place frozen Pelmeni into a good quantity of boiling water, salted to your taste. It may be a good idea to put a few bay leaves into the water, chopped dill and parsley. Stir occasionally with a wooden spoon to prevent sticking, until they rise to the surface. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, carefully remove the Pelmeni, drain in a colander. Transfer Pelmeni to a deep serving bowl and toss with the butter, mustard, vinegar and ground black pepper.
Traditional Russian style Pelmeni Cook Pelmeni. Traditional accompaniments for Russian style Pelmeni are ground black pepper, sour cream sprinkled with dill or white vinegar. Having a shot of Stolichnaya Vodka before makes the experience truly Russian!
Put semi-cooked Pelmeni in the oven. Add sour cream and grated cheese. Bake until Pelmeni is ready.
Pelmeni can be served as a first course. Boil beef, chicken or vegetable broth. Place frozen pelmeni into the broth. Add bay leaves and whole black pepper if desired. Stir gently to prevent sticking until Pelmeni come to the surface, cook for about 5-7 minutes. Remove with slotted spoon. Serve with fresh chopped dills and parsley.
Put boiled pelmeni with meat filling in the clay pots, sprinkle with mayonnaise. Beat fresh egg with 2 tbsp wheat flour, pour into a pot with pelmeni, sprinkle with grated cheese on the top of every pot, bake open in the oven until top will be golden brown. Serve one hot pot for one person. Pelmeni baked in the clay pots is especially tasty.
Boil Pelmeni for 2-3 minutes. Place them in a frying pan with butter or deep fryer and fry until ready. Also you can get unique taste if you firstly fry frozen Pelmeni in a frying pan until golden colour and then boil them until ready.
Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over high heat. Place frozen Pelmeni into the skillet, cover and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Serve on a toothpicks accompanied by small bowls filled with hot sauces, chili, salsa, garlic sauce. Delicious and good with drinks.
Gently cook Potato Vareniki in boiling water to make them semi-cooked. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan. Place semi-cooked Potato Vareniki into the frying pan with chopped onion. You can add also chopped mushrooms. Fry 3-5 minutes until ready.
This Vareniki is simply fantastic. They are served as a dessert and should be cooled down before given out. Gently cook Sour Cherry Vareniki. Place them in a serving bowl, top with sour cream or thickened cream, pour a little juice over, and top up with sugar and a few cherries. |
